Default Paralympic games

My husband Paul Hawhorne is currently out in cyprus preparing to travel to Athens for the Paralympic games.

He will be competing in the archery competition from the 22nd september.

we would like everyone to will him on telapathically, keep thinking medals, medals.

He has trained hard for 4 years for this, sometimes at the expense of his family, time with his children has been compromised and i sometimes feel there are 3 of us in this marriage, me, him and that damn bow.

GOOD LUCK PAUL
ENJOY, ITS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME

Best wishes to Paul. I know that he has put a lot of time into his training so he deserves to do well.

Sadly paul isnt doing too well, in the ranking round he came 21st out of 22. Didnt come last though. He is still in the competition, he goes head to head tomorrow so we will see. he had aproblem with his number 1 bow and has switched to his numer 2 and has shot well today on the practise field.
He is still in high spirits (takes a lot to bring him down) and enjoying himself. the only sour note is the BBC have been told not to interview him as he is out spoken and may just reveal whats going on behind the scenes, i.e. favourtism, backstabbing and the laziness of the support staff, who have spent their time sunbathing by the pool instead of helping the team.
I feel they have worked them too hard for the past 2 weeks, 10 hours a day training everyday! This is not nesessary in my eyes. Oh well only 7 more days and he will be home.
All being well we may see some coverage on thursdays paralympic programme of the archery, but dont hold your breath.

Thanks very much for the link, I hadnt come across this one and its going to keep me up to date with his progress today as the official website (BBC) havent even mentioned the archery.
I have no contact with Paul as there are no phones in the apartments and he has left his mobile in the drawer at home (typical). I have to rely on the internet, and his emails have been hit and miss (bit like his arrows).

Thanks again You are a star

Paul made it to the top 16 before being knocked out. I feel he is proud of himself and enjoyed it all. He said he had a problem with 2 of his arrows, they stuck to his fingers when he was loading them, the glue holding the spin wings ( dont ask me what they are) melted in the heat! He now has to wait 6 days before he can come home so he is going to make the most of it by going to watch others sports and cheering on the rest of Team GB. hard life eh?

Thanks for all your support and vibes, he is still a star in my eyes and the boys and myself are very proud of him. He worked hard for 4 years to gain his place on the team, he had to qualify, he didnt just get an automatic place, and I feel it was all worth it. He can hold his head high and say I WAS THERE!

Christa, please send on my very best wishes to Paul. To be one of the top archers in the world, good enough to participate in the Paralympics is a remarkable achievement. You and your family must be incredibly proud of Paul, and rightly so!
