Powers of Observation
Was sitting in my friend's room yesterday watching a film. Her family were out and we'd settled down with take out and a movie. Nice happy little set up.
Suddenly, I hear something. It sounds like Meat Loaf singing. I turn to my friend. She doesn't seem to have noticed anything. There's no one else in the house and Meat Loaf is playing in one of the rooms Eventually, I figure out that while we had been messing around getting food and sorting out the dvd, my friend's brother had come home with his girlfriend and they were in his room playing Meat Loaf on his CD player. My friend had obviously seen them come in but I hadn't! |

When I took guitar lessons at school, about two years ago now, our teacher was great, really easy going, didn't mind us staying over our allocated period. He'd let us bring our tapes in so he could try to transcribe some music for us. One time I went to my lesson, and most of the girls were already there, and as I entered one of them was in control of the stereo player. I only heard a split second of music when she played then stopped it but I thought 'that sounds like Meat!', and it was! She'd brought in Bat for him to really try to pick out the chords!
Just thought it was cool that someone other than me would bring Meat in to listen to, and that I sort of recognised that voice even with a tiny little milisecond of sound! |
