Johnny Haynes (almost) RIP!

Johnny Haynes was a former England footballer who played for Fulham FC nad was the first English footballer to be paid £100 a week.

He was involved in a car crash in Edinburgh and rushed to hospital.

This afternoon Fulham issued a statement saying he had passed away and released his obituary. The BBC ran the story as did Sky News, Reuters, the Press Association and ITN News.

As the BBC were preparing a full obit report for the evening news someone had the idea of ringing one of his greiving family to ask for a quote about how they will miss him.

"i would" came the reply "but i ahd better wait until he is dead"

Although he is critcally ill and on life support he isn't dead! Methinks heads will roll at Fulham for this!
