There seems to be a slight misunderstanding regarding the email address you have to enter for a successful registration. Many of the software functions rely on a valid email address. As an example, a confirmation mail with a special activation link is forwarded to that particular email address. A new forum account has no posting privileges until that particular activation link is clicked. Having said that, if somebody registers with a fake email address, the confirmation mail bounces and that new account cannot be activated.
All bouncing emails queue up in my admin email account and I can assure you that it's quite annoying to receive 120 new emails a day with 90% of them being delivery failure notifications. This is the main reason why we don't allow email addresses like *@hotmail.com or *@yahoo.com anymore. This is not a personal ban, it's a general ban of some well known email service providers who allow multiple (sometimes disposable), easy-to-setup, non-personal email accounts. Now, if you try to register with an email address listed in our "banlist", you will get the infamous "banned email message". There are 2 workarounds for this:
