Default Stoney and Meat Loaf - I am agonizing...help!!!

I have found and bought completely new sealed vinyl Stoney and Meat Loaf...I thought to myself, I will listen to it and then transfer it to CD for my personal use...

And now it came...it is here...it is absolutely brand new as advertised...completely sealed as if it just arrived from the store. It does smell - I guess somebody found it in a basement/cellar or something...

It appears that there were different releases and versions of this album. Mine has a cover like my little pic by my nick.

I can't bring myself to open it...it looks almost virgin and I feel like I will defile it if I open it...

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just need a friendly word...

Most LP's bought now have been re-sealed, so I wouldn't worry about opening it or not, I don't think it'll affect it's Ebay value in any way shape or form

I think if you go to http://homepages.tesco.net/~stoneymeat/ that might help. I don't know who's website that is but it's probably the best one out there for Stoney & Meat Loaf. Hope I'm not violating any rules by posting a link.

The album isn't re-sealed. It appears that somebody found it in a cellar or something (it smells strongly of must) and just sold it on e-bay. I am not thinking about it's value...I am thinking about...defiling virgin record? I must have lost whatever few marbles I have...I bought it for myself and the only value it has for me is that this is (I think?) the first ML album. I can't bring myself to open it...I've read a lot about the album and even heard the clips of the songs (unfortunately, it didn't sound too good on the clips). Thanks for the link I will check it out.

There's been 3 variations of the album, the original (which I doubt would be sealed) 1971, the re-issue 1978 with the funny face made from a Meatloaf and a 1979 re-issue with the original 1971 image.

Which one's yours?

I am pretty sure it's the second one - re-issue of 1978. I haven't realized that there were 3 versions until I bought it. By the way, that's where I learned so much about the album - from that site that you have posted me the link to...I still think I have it open somewhere among my many windows. Now is a good question...if there were 2 re-issues - why the heck didn't they re-issue it on CD?

Because they didn't have CD's back in 1979

But they did a few years later...most albums came out on CD...except for this one, actually, I think all of them came out on CD except for this one.

They already gave the album 2 re-issues and I don't think it did particularly well, giving it a 3rd re-issue on CD probably was seen as a bad investment. Which may seem a bit harsh for the fans, but a decision I fully understand.

Well...in the meantime I still don't know what to do...I really have to get over it, open the album and just transfer it on CD...can't imagine what stops me...is album not so good? Is that what it is?

I don't want to sound harsh but your dithering on whether to open an album or not, is getting a little annoying. Use the link I gave you, have a listen to some of the songs and decide for yourself. Do you have this problem deciding whether to open a tin of beans or not?

Well it is certainly rather different to other Meat stuff but there are a couple of excellent songs, a couple of OK ones and a few mediocre ones.

If you have the dinner plate cover you will find you are missing the As Heavy As Jesus track which is arguably the best Stoney and Meat Loaf track (No idea why that wasn't on the re-release)

But open it up - a sealed copy in my view doesn't add significant value cause no one believes they are the original seals

And the Stoney and Meat Loaf Web site is my web site. Unfortunately I can no longer access/update it so it is stuck there! I need to rebuild it elsewhere cause I have some some new material (non audio) but that will have to wait

Three versions of the album.
I wish there was enough interest to put this on CD. I like this just as much as the BAT albums
