Default Lose The War

Hi!
I've read somewhere that USA soldiers are resting 4-6 days cause they need supply. I think Iraq will be the 2nd Vietnam. I think Iraq will win. I put 1$ to Iraq! And you???

You can fight an army but you can't fight a population. It's a basic rule of war.If the population is willing to fight then you are going to lose.No army has ever won a partisan war.Look at history...
The French in Spain.
The Germans in Russia.
The Americans in Viet Nam.
The Russians in Afghanistan.
In all these cases the armies have been fatally harassed behind the lines, weakening their abillity to fight an enemy that should be easilly beaten.
If the Iraqie people want rid of Saddam then we will win.If not,i'm not very confident on the outcome .

In my opinion there is no such thing as 'winning a war'.
It just doesn't excist!

Default So saddened

I'm sorry to see that all here from Europe are posting in this manner.

As an American I didn't realize there was this depth of feeling that you would side with a brutal dictator, who has gassed and murdered his own citizens. And even some compare that to our president who is trying to free some from that oppression? I guess you would all have been for peace and no war when ~~~~~~ was on the march?

This is a music board, but to run across this almost hatred of America is scary to me.

WOH, you seem like a nice person, please explain to me, would you rather live under the Communist regime your country endured or would
you rather the US not try to fight Communism, as it did at the time? Do you get the connection?

I have friends in harms way,
May God protect them.

Well, I think US NEVER fight against nobody or country! You said I'd rather live under Communism or US not try to fight against. He! I want to fight for my country. US NEVER fight for my country cause hasn't to do with it. US NEVER fight against Saddam! If they are helpful would send money to the Opposition. Not guns, not promises. This war is illegal. US don't start a war against a man... What a think!!!

Bush is idiot. Saddam too. But you have to let these things for the Iraqi nation. And in Hungary never been Communism, only Socialism. You Americans are mixing everything. You know nothing about Communism. You know nothing about WARS cause you weren't in war. You had got a Pearl Harbour and a WTC eclypsed and no more. But you've thrown A-bomb to Nagasaki and Hiroshima and killed half million people. Why? Japan was capitulated then. I know the answer. Money and Guns. At now Money, Oil and idea of Big Israel. And yes! If Bush want to rebuild Iraq with Israel and they will get some place from Mesopotamia I'm going to Iraq with my friends like "live wall(?)". And why? Cause Mesopotamia is the origin of culture. And we (Hungarians) are relatives of Sumerians. Well...

I want to come back! USA want domination of the world. You are there know about nothing cause your leadership keeps secret everything. But other secret services know the truth. If you have question take it for your leadership. It is democracy. I hate democracy. And you want do a democracy in Iraq after the war. What a think!!! It's an islam country. What do you know about islam? Islam and democracy are clasing other. It's impossible. USA should learn a lot about the world...

Default WAR? good or bad?

It is hard to say if war is good or a bad thing or even who has own. My points are listed below, (these are based on previous conflicts).

GOOD
1. Pulls a country together to work as a team.
2. Brings the best out of people.
3. New advancements in technology can be achived.
4. New advancements in medical care can be achived.
5. Acts as a deterent to others.
6. Others

BAD
1. Loss of life (both civ and mil)
2. Econiomic cost of the whole campain
3. Cost of rebuilding
4. Others

My own view is that this war is just. Removing this political power is a good thing as not only will it liberate the people, but it shows that those who take power through assassinations and unfair methods will one day pay for what they have done. Also with the images of the find by the British of the morge near Bassra it helps my point as who would want a government in power that practises those activities?

Communist regime? can be good in plan form but can never work in the real world as there are always going to be those better off telling the lower people what to do. Therefore a comprimise is needed between communisium and nationalisum.

Well, I don't like any kind of war, I was initially against this war, but once it started, well... it was a fact and because I felt we were way past the discussion weather this war was legitimate or not, I hoped the USA and the UK forces would get rid of Saddam Houssain and his regime. And today, it seems like they did.
And when I see all those happy people, partying in the street, finally free to say what they really think, I think its good this way.
Saddam has killed thousands and thousands of people, was surpressing the people and torturing...
I hope now the Irake people themselves will choose their gouvernment and finally can live without fear.
Just my two cents.

Wow, what a wonderful thing to see,
people to be released from oppression after so many years. They were dancing in the streets. It got me teary-eyed to see that.

God bless the Americans, Brits, Aussies and others who had the gumption to stand up when many had no guts. The UN had found Saddam in violation of a cease-fire 17 times. What was done was in NO way any violation of international law.

Just ask the people of Iraq what they think! Let Freedom Ring!

Don't confuse liberation with a change of dictators - only time will tell what will emerge in Iraq.

Also don't confuse opposition to an illegal war as support for a dictator: it would have been possible to foster internal change within Iraq without alienating 90% of the Arab world - upon which, incidentally, the West depends for it's economic well-being. So before you go gung-ho about throwing troops into the (distant) firing line, just remember the condequences of fighting a guerrilla war on the home front - Sep 11 and the Grand Hotel blasts seem to serve.

One final thought: a fundamental tenet of the modern interpretations of Islam is that the entire world will be Islamic. On that basis, the only possible justification for the war is a signal that certain countries in the West will not tolerate the onward march of Islam - strange that the major contributor in this effort has a very powerful Jewish lobby supporting Capitol Hill!
